CCWD Board Approves Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project!
After review of the Final Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (Final EIS/EIR), the CCWD Board of Directors certified the EIR and approved the Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project on March 31, 2010. The CCWD Board of Directors resolusion is available here. The project includes expanding the current reservoir from 100,000 acre-feet to 160,000 acre-feet.
The project is an important component of California’s long-term plan to fix the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta (Bay-Delta) ecosystem, while effectively meeting the needs of millions who depend on the Delta for water. In these times of uncertainty in the Delta, an expansion of Los Vaqueros Reservoir would provide reliable water in drought periods, improve water quality, help the environment, and create jobs.
For more information about the benefits and findings of the project studies, visit the documents page.
The detailed design of the expansion is moving forward with construction planned to begin in 2011.
