The Project Team is currently analyzing, screening, and refining project alternatives. These refined alternatives will be included in the Draft Feasibility Report and Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) that will be completed early 2008.
The Department of Water Resources and CCWD recently developed a Fact Sheet, which provides a brief overview of the Los Vaqueros Expansion Project.
Last summer, Reclamation published the Initial Economics Evaluation Report (July 2006) which provides an initial evaluation of cost effectiveness of one project alternative that is part of the ongoing Federal Feasibility Study. The report evaluated an expansion to 275,000 acre-feet without removing the existing dam. The project evaluation showed a positive benefit-cost ratio showing this alternative provides cost-effective water for the environment and benefits to the Bay Area water agencies while meeting the CCWD BoardPrinciples. With the report showing a cost-effective project, CCWD and Reclamation are continuing to refine the evaluation of this and other project alternatives.
CCWD and other interested agencies have signed an extension of the existing Memorandum of Understanding to continue to evaluate an expansion of Los Vaqueros. Click here to view the MOU extension.
